Stories of Family, Faith and Friendship
by John Shaughnessy
"Some of the stories made me laugh, and others brought tears to my eyes. The stories illustrate what family, tradition, faith and friendship mean to all of us. I look forward to having this collection in my bookcase with my other treasured books."
--Mary Coffey, co-chairperson of the Indianapolis Irish Fest
The Irish love a good story. And these stories flow through The Irish Way of Life: A young Irish immigrant getting ready to board the Titanic. Childhood friends living their dreams as Irish cowboys. A musician giving the performance of his lifetime - in a restroom. Brothers and sisters growing up in an Irish family. A parent and child sharing the strange, sacred bond of Notre Dame football A son returning to Ireland to find the home of his mother.
The stories of our Irish families are filled with journeys that lead us to places we have always dreamed of, and to destinations we never imagined. The histories of our Irish families also overflow with tales of people who followed their dreams, took risks and endured sacrifices while trying to make their mark on the world. This collection celebrates the heart, the humor and the proud heritage of the Irish.
