FRAGMENTS OF HOPE
by
Richard F. Berg, C.S.C.
This is a book about hope. The kind of hope that is found and tested among the privileged and the destitute, in the expected and unexpected, in the place where grace meets the nitty- gritty of life.
This memoir by Father Berg shares insights and inspirations gathered from a life open to the human condition in its vast variety. As Father Berg looks back on his life, his priesthood, the people he encountered, listened to, counseled, prayed with and learned from, what emerges is powerful testimony to the abundance of grace available in every life, every situation, and to the miracles, major and minor, that present themselves every day to those who have eyes to see.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Father Dick Berg was ordained a priest of the Congregation of Holy Cross in 1963, and led many lives after that – professor, dean, psychologist, chaplain, pastoral minister, pastor of what is now Saint Andre Bessette Parish in Portland, founder of the Macdonald Center and Residence for the poor in that city’s Old Town district, and now author. He is today chaplain for the Mary’s Woods assisted living community, and lives at the University of Portland, which he has served with grace and wit since 1974, and where he holds the rank of professor emeritus.
